About the role:

You will lead a global team of specialists dedicated to upholding high standards of product safety and compliance.

Global Regulatory Monitoring and Interpretation:

  • Monitor relevant safety regulations and standards worldwide.
  • Interpret and apply these regulations to ensure compliance across all markets.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the EU Safety Commission and other international regulatory bodies.
  • Manage reporting to the Safety Commission as required.

Development of Safety and Regulatory Protocols:

  • Create and implement detailed safety and regulatory protocols.
  • Ensure these protocols are updated with the latest regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Develop new protocols based on consumer feedback regarding incidents.

Training and Implementation:

  • Train internal teams and stakeholders on safety and regulatory protocols.
  • Deploy these protocols effectively across all business units.
  • Ensure timely implementation of safety and compliance measures.

Leadership and Industry Representation:

  • Lead significant turnaround projects in product compliance and market access on a global scale.
  • Act as the liaison between finished goods suppliers, internal safety compliance teams, and market access authorities.
  • Represent the company at the Council level in the European Industry Association for Manufacturers of Household Appliances (APPLiA) and chair the Small Appliance division.
  • Influence industry regulations through active participation in industry associations and regulatory bodies.

Management of Product Safety and Compliance:

  • Lead the team responsible for ensuring all branded household appliances meet safety and compliance standards.
  • Serve as the primary contact for any compliance and safety issues, providing leadership for resolution.
  • Monitor safety incidents in the market, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure products are market-ready and compliant on the first attempt.
  • Conduct product risk assessment, mitigation, and management activities to proactively address potential safety issues.

Strategic and Competitive Analysis:

  • Monitor the competitive landscape to ensure initiatives and internal requirements align with consumer and user expectations.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Maintain strong connections within the regulatory environment.

Oversight of Quality Management System:

  • Represent the company as the legal manufacturer within the certified Quality Management System.
  • Ensure that domestic appliances manufactured and placed on the market comply with this system.

About you:

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Law, or a related field with a focus on safety and compliance.
  • Extensive experience in regulatory compliance, safety management, or a related field within the industry.
  • Proven expertise in risk assessment, management, and mitigation.
  • Experience in reporting safety incidents and managing product recalls.
  • Experience in managing transformational projects.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Deep understanding of global safety regulations and standards, particularly within the EU.
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements.
