The Opportunity

Exciting, greenfield opportunity for a senior technology lawyer to join the Sydney office of a growing and innovative organisation to lead their APAC legal function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and support to various business units in the organisation including procurement, sales, and partnerships.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including SaaS contracts, partnership deals, vendor agreements, employment contracts, confidentiality agreements, and platform integrations.
  • Handle multiple deals while offering strong business and legal guidance to other colleagues, and teams internationally, maintaining a clear focus on company priorities.
  • Offering strategic guidance on emerging technology trends, and their legal implications through a commercial lens.

Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum 7 years PAE with relevant experience gained from time spent either in a technology/ TMT team of a reputable law firm or an inhouse counsel at a technology business (ideally both).
  • Deep understanding of technology law, and experience drafting and negotiating a wide range of SaaS contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian data privacy laws and regulations including the Privacy Act.
  • Ability to provide strategic and pragmatic legal advice, exercising sound commercial judgement.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
