Real Estate Counsel
Our client, a publicly traded REIT in Los Angeles, is seeking a Real Estate Counsel to join their legal department. This is a unique opportunity to join a company that prioritizes their employees, indicated by longevity across all departments but particularly in the legal department where the real estate and corporate legal team leads have each worked with the company for 20+ years. The Real Estate Counsel will assist the legal department with a wide range of transactional real estate matters, including, but not limited to:
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a range of legal agreements, including commercial leases, ground leases, purchase and sale agreements, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), amendments to easement agreements, brokerage agreements, and other related contracts.
- Conduct legal research to summarize key rights and obligations tied to the documents under review.
- Analyze and provide guidance on various commercial real estate documents, including leases, operating agreements, easements, and other contracts relevant to the retail sector.
- Oversee the complete lifecycle of documentation, ensuring that all legal documents are efficiently managed from drafting through to final execution and distribution.
- Maintain and update legal records in internal systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established protocols.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the team and ensure smooth legal operations.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of experience as a real estate attorney, in a law firm and/or in-house
- Experience with new developments, leasing, and transactional real estate matters
- J.D., ABA Accredited Law School
- CA Bar Admission
