About the Role

Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced employment solicitor to join their top-ranked team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful team at a senior level, support further growth, lead on client matters, and help develop junior team members.

You will undertake a broad mix of contentious and non-contentious employment work, supporting commercial and private sector clients. These clients include well-known brands such as Jaguar Land Rover, River Island, The White Company, Odeon Cinemas, Triumph Motorcycles, London Electric Vehicle Company, Volkswagen Financial Services, Carlsberg Marstons, Topps Tiles, and Bensons for Beds.

In addition to advisory work, you will play a key role in delivering an annual program of training, seminars, and legal updates to clients and prospective clients.

You will primarily support three Partners and will be responsible for managing and supervising approximately 12-14 junior lawyers.

The wider employment team operates across a variety of sectors, including commercial, health, higher education, sports, and charities. It is part of a National Service Line comprising 70+ lawyers, supported by three professional support lawyers. Regular training sessions and cross-office sector away days ensure continued professional development and collaboration.

The Person

Our client is seeking a Principal Associate with 8+ years of employment law experience gained in a reputable firm with a substantive employment law practice.

At this level, you will be expected to:

Client Service

  • Deliver outstanding client service to internal and external clients, encouraging client retention and referrals
  • Understand clients‘ legal, commercial, and service needs
  • Demonstrate strong business development skills through growth from existing clients and securing new work

Technical Excellence

  • Possess strong technical competence and legal knowledge in employment law
  • Deliver high-quality and commercially focused advice
  • Manage Employment Tribunal litigation effectively
  • Provide training to clients and target clients
  • Supervise and mentor junior lawyers
