As a Senior Legal Counsel you will be supporting the General Counsel in a range of legal and compliance matters. The key purpose of this role is:

  1. To participate and contribute effectively as a member of the Legal Services team and the wider charity community, ensuring the delivery of a wide range of legal and commercial services in line with business requirements.
  1. To lead on all matters relating to data protection, ensuring compliance across operations.
  1. To provide high quality legal, compliance and commercial advice to the Group.

Role/ Responsibilities: Broad general commercial legal matters, IT, Data protection and compliance matters. You will be advising people in all business units ensuring good variety in the role. Please see attached the Job Description for more details.

Key commercial matters could include but not limited to:

  • Providing comprehensive legal support to product incubator and product development teams, ensuring that the group’s products are compliant with all applicable laws and regulations from inception to launch, identifying and assessing potential legal risks associated with new product development, providing strategic solutions to mitigate these risks, and collaborating with product managers, IT specialists, marketing and other stakeholders to ensure that legal considerations are integrated into the product development process from the earliest stages;
  • Drafting, negotiating and advising on contracts for all areas of the Trinity Group’s business including IP licensing arrangements and IT/digital contracts, SaaS and Master Services Agreements, product development, R&D, network collaborations and joint venture agreements, contracts for procurement and general commercial terms and conditions for both trade and consumers;

Suitable candidate:

  • This role would suit someone with 5 years experience working on broad commercial legal matters. Applicants should be appropriately qualified as an in-house counsel (Either qualified in England & Wales or another jurisdiction with appropriate commercial legal experience).
  • Experience with broad commercial legal matters is a must.
  • Experience with Data Protection laws, cotracts and processes is also a must.
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering high quality, commercial, risk-based legal advice, with focus on data protection and data privacy issues in a global organisation
  • Demonstrable in-house experience either through secondments or previous in-house employment; experience of working in highly regulated and/or charitable organisations would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Must be a team player but also able to work confidently and autonomously with limited supervision when required.

The team: Team of 5 (1 SLC, 3 Legal Advisors + 1 Paralegal)

Reporting lines: General Counsel

Start date: Beginning of November 2024 Ideal. If you are interested but can’t start until mid November (at the latest) this could also work.

Days in the office: x1 anchor day (typically Wednesdays). 2 days preferrable but flexibility is offered around this.

Office Location: London – Nearest Tube station is Southwark Underground Station
