Taylor Root is working with a leading commodities trader across power, gas, LNG, LPG, oil, and environmental products. They are looking to hire a mid-level Legal Counsel to provide parental leave cover for 12-14 months from the end of October/start of November.

Working within a team of 6 people and reporting into the Deputy General Counsel, this is a role offering good autonomy and exposure. The role provides support and advice to the business’s commercial teams and to the central support functions (incl. Credit, Procurement, and Treasury).

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing legal support to the company’s trading and origination teams who cover power, gas, environmental products, oil, biofuels, and derivatives markets.
  • Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts in relation to trading (e.g. structured transactions, power purchase agreements, gas capacity contracts, lending facilities).
  • Providing support for shipping, structured transactions and M&A.
  • Assisting with corporate or company secretarial matters.

Experience required:

  • Ideally, c. 3-6 years’ post qualification experience.
  • Solicitor qualified in England and Wales or equally open to German qualified solicitors.
  • Working with contracts across EMEA.
  • Energy commodities experience.
  • M&A experience is a plus, but not essential.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
