Private Client Knowledge Development Lawyer – 6-month FTC

London or Guildford

Our client, a highly regarded international law firm, is seeking a Knowledge Development Lawyer (KDL) to join their Private Client team on a 6-month fixed-term contract which can be based in London or Guildford.

The Role

As a Knowledge Development Lawyer, you will play a key role in shaping and managing the firm’s Private Client knowledge strategy both internally and externally.

  • Drafting, reviewing, maintaining and updating key internal resources (precedents, practice notes, checklists, toolkits, clause banks, internal knowledge pages.
  • Providing technical guidance to lawyers across the team, ensuring best practices and high standards.
  • Collecting and reviewing know-how from lawyers, making it available via the Knowledge systems.
  • Preparing regular current awareness updates and bulletins on developments in tax, trusts, succession
  • Identifying and exploiting opportunities to deliver advice and guidance on Private Client legal issues to the Firm’s clients e.g. through client briefings, client training and other value add services
  • Identifying opportunities to use Knowledge to enhance the Firm’s reputation within the market including supporting individuals to develop their profiles as thought leaders by assisting them with the drafting of sector commentary articles, technical briefings and short online posts, liaising with the firms’ PR team to spot opportunities for thought leadership pieces
  • Producing thought leadership content, including client briefings and sector commentary.
  • Leading knowledge-sharing initiatives, such as internal training sessions and current awareness updates.
  • Supporting the migration of Private Client knowledge content to a new Knowledge Management System.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Ideally 5+ years’ PQE in Private Client, tax, trusts, international trusts, and succession planning for private clients, HNWIs and related trusts/structures (ideally including charities although this isn’t essential).
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Excellent drafting skills, capable of producing high-quality internal and client-facing content.
