Taylor Root is proud to be supporting International Women’s Day 2020. International Women’s Day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Whilst we all know that gender parity within the workplace has improved over the past decades, we all also know that there is still a long way to go.
We interviewed Fannie Fan, General Counsel Greater China at Fresenius Medical Care.
#IWD2020 #EachforEqual
The theme for IWD2020 is #EachforEqual. Have you experienced gender stereotypes/gender bias in a professional context? If so, how have you been able to challenge this?
I have not personally experienced any gender stereotypes/gender bias so far. However, during my work experience of over 20 years, both as a business professional and as a legal professional, I have witnessed various cases where women leaders encounter “glass-ceilings” at times of promotion or moving up the corporate/organisational ladders. Such situations exist in almost all industries and all types of organisations, regardless of whether it’s a corporation or a law firm.
Do you feel social media has influenced a positive shift change for female leadership?
I am happy to have noticed, that social media has helped make good progress in this respect, especially in recent years.
