Position Overview:

The Paralegal will be Expana’s first legal team hire in the United States, reporting directly to the General Counsel, Chris Oliver. This pivotal role will be instrumental in assisting with a wide array of legal matters pertinent to the companies business within the US.

This crucial role will focus on assisting with legal matters specific to the SaaS environment, including drafting and negotiating software licensing agreements, service level agreements, and terms of service. The Paralegal will work closely with product, engineering, and compliance teams to ensure that the company’s offerings align with applicable regulations and industry standards.

This position will be 100% remote, with a preference for a candidate on the East Coast or who can work East Coast hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of contracts, including software licensing agreements, service level agreements, and terms of service.
  • Support the legal team with product development to ensure compliance with relevant laws and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including product, engineering, and compliance, to address legal issues and support business objectives.
  • Conduct legal research to assist in the preparation of legal documents and advise on business operations.
  • Support the management of data privacy and intellectual property matters, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations.
  • Assist in liaising with external legal advisors and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.

Experience:

  • Paralegal certification or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a legal support role, ideally with a background in technology, SaaS, or financial services.
  • Proven experience in contract management and legal research.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative approach to working with internal teams and external partners.
  • Experience with data privacy, intellectual property, and compliance regulations is a plus.
