Legal Counsel – Europe

An opportunity has arisen at a fast growing international insurance company, to join the international legal department, focusing on the business in continental Europe. This role will report to the General Counsel Europe & UK. Because the company is growing in the region they are looking to expand the legal function.

About the role:

As a Legal Counsel – Europe you will support the General Counsel and the wider European and UK-based legal team on a variety of legal and regulatory matters. This includes contractual work, insurance, reinsurance and regulatory topics. It is a broad role where you advise business colleagues, underwriters and legal and compliance colleagues on a broad range of legal and regulatory topics. You will stay up to date on relevant laws and regulations in insurance and financial services and other areas. Furthermore, you conduct legal and regulatory research and draft and revise corporate policies and procedures.

About you:

– You have a degree in law and are admitted to practice law in an EU country;

– You have 5 years or more of legal experience, ideally in an insurance company, a law firm insurance practice or a broker;

– You have extensive knowledge of insurance laws of at least one EU country and extensive knowledge of insurance contracts and regulatory law;

– You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are a team player;

– Fluency in English, fluency in another European language such as French, German or Spanish would be a strong advantage.
