My client, a highly respected and established banking organisation, is seeking a talented Senior Legal Corporate Counsel to join their legal team in either London or Edinburgh. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a leading financial institution that values expertise, collaboration, and strategic impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Legal Advisory: Provide legal advice to internal clients, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements while balancing legal risks with commercial needs. Key areas include the Listing Rules, Market Abuse Regulations, Companies Act, Disclosure and Transparency Regulations, and the Takeover Code.
  • Documentation: Draft or oversee the drafting of documentation to ensure legal compliance and protection of the Group’s interests.
  • Negotiation: Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Group Corporate Development, Finance, Tax, and Risk to negotiate transaction documentation, ensuring legal risks are appropriately managed and mitigated.
  • Risk Management: Report and escalate legal and governance risks, providing input on recommended solutions as required.
  • Commercial Negotiations: Engage in legal and commercial negotiations with third parties to achieve commercially and legally advantageous outcomes.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Lawyer: UK or Common Law qualified with at least 10 years PQE in corporate advisory and transactional law, gained from a city firm or in-house organisation.
  • Relationship Builder: Proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships across Legal & Secretariat and the wider business to support strategic delivery.
  • Leadership Experience: Experience in developing and coaching junior colleagues.
  • Strategic Influence: Confident in using your experience and insights to influence, inform, and challenge business stakeholders effectively.
