*URGENT* Regional Counsel, APMEA
Our client is a globally renowned brand specializing in retail technology, offering integrated solutions and software to enhance customer experiences. They are looking for a Regional Counsel for their APMEA region, reporting into the MD.
This is an exciting role to be a part of the group’s transformative journey, introducing structures, workflow, policies and processes – facilitating change and efficiency optimization. One of the first few mandates would be to build the team, a rare chance to develop management skills from ground zero.
Role and responsibilities:
- Provide accurate advice on various legal matters, including contracts, labor law, partnerships, and corporate finance. Proactively identify and address potential legal risks and compliance issues.
- Draft, review, and update policies, contracts, and agreements while ensuring compliance with internal governance standards and external regulations. Maintain an organized archive of all legal documentation.
- Collaborate with in-house teams, negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, and authorities), and build trust-based relationships to support business operations and dispute resolution.
- Keep leadership informed about changes in laws or regulations, assist in licensing renewals, and offer strategic guidance on litigation, mediation, and arbitration matters.
Requirements:
- LLB from a recognized University, common law qualified lawyer
- 10+ years of proven experience as Legal Counsel in a corporate setting, with strong knowledge of corporate law and procedures, including contract law.
- Ability to develop effective legal strategies while understanding external factors influencing corporate operations.
- High standards of ethics, integrity, and professionalism, paired with strong communication skills to collaborate effectively.
